IMMEDIATE OPENING – DESIGN ENGINEER

STARGATE MANUFACTURING, located in Milton, is seeking an experienced DESIGN ENGINEER to join its Engineering team.  At Stargate, we have been designing and manufacturing custom aluminum trailers since 1998; and as our product line and market footprint expands, we have an opening for a qualified engineer to help us continue to be one of the fastest growing custom trailer manufacturers in Canada.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the design and engineering of company products, in order to meet customer expectations of quality, reliability and cost.
  • Review sales contracts to establish product requirements and specifications.
  • Interpret dealer sales contracts, drawings and specifications.
  • Interface with all internal departments, personnel to produce safe and reliable mechanical designs.
  • Prepare mechanical strength calculations.
  • Prepare Bill of Materials and full detailed drawings using PDM and E2 Shop System.
  • Maintain the product design database.
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Prepare design concepts, sketches or models for approval by management
  • Conform to current industry standards and codes.
  • Consult and interact with sales team in order to clarify and/or resolve problems.
  • Research to assist in your understanding of trucks, trailers, loading, suspensions, alternate materials, design advantages and ongoing personal knowledge of the industry.
  • Provide technical assistance to the shop floor and support to other departments.
  • Perform duties as required by manager to keep pace with changes in scope of work and/or other duties or projects as requested by manager.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

  • Experience in carrying a project from inception to production.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills using engineering standards and practices.
  • Broad knowledge base about engineering principles, practices and procedures.
  • Able to perform / interpret FEA Analysis; and, be able to make informed and accurate decisions of same.
  • Proficient at time management, including organizational and planning skills, in order to meet demanding schedules
  • Ability to focus and exhibit excellent attention to detail.
  • Possess solid multitasking skills.
  • Able to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Willing to learn and accept challenges, as well as, take constructive criticism and learn and grow from it.
  • Self-driven and self-directed.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND SOFTWARE/PROGRAM SKILLS:

  • University Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in a Design Engineering Role (Experience with truck body/trailer design would be an asset)
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience in 3D CAD Modeling with large assemblies using SolidWorks 2018.
  • Experience with Project Data Management (PDM) system and E2 shop manufacturing software are assets.
  • Strong Microsoft Office software abilities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND SOFTWARE/PROGRAM SKILLS:

  • PERMANENT FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT
  • Day Shift: Monday – Friday 7:30 – 4pm.
  • Two weeks paid vacation.
  • Group Insurance Benefits and Life Insurance Policy after 90 day Probation completed.
  • RRSP contributions available
  • Salary: $50,000 – $70,000 – based on experience

EXPERIENCED WELDERS
IMMEDIATE OPENING – PERMANENT POSITION
BOTH SHIFTS

 

 STARGATE MANUFACTURING IS EXPANDING,
WE ARE SEEKING QUALIFIED / EXPERIENCED WELDERS

 

DAY SHIFT:  7:30 AM – 4:00 PM MONDAY – FRIDAY
AFTERNOON SHIFT: 4:00 PM – 2:30 AM MONDAY – THURSDAY

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TO BE A PART OF THE STARGATE TEAM

 

  • 1-3 years of aluminum welding experience is a must
  • Experience working in a new fabrication environment
  • Capable of lifting 30 lbs
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment

 

ALL WELDING CANDIDATES MUST HAVE

 

  • Steel toe safety shoes
  • Welding helmet
  • Welding gloves
  • Basic hand tools (3 lb sledge hammer / tape measure)
